~~~ Dr. Wayne W. Dyer ~~~
An avid reader, by age 17 Dr. Dyer had read 800 books, including Thoreau, whom he credits with helping him accept himself as a nonconformist. He joined the Navy at 18 and in 1962 began his college studies.
One of the most popular best-selling authors and lecturers, Dr. Dyer exemplifies what he teaches... from orphanages and foster homes on the East Side of Detroit to "An infinite soul disguised as a husband, father of eight, writer and lecturer" which is how he describes himself. With a doctorate in counseling and psychology, he went on to teach levels from high school through graduate study, write 20 books and co-authori three textbooks. He creates hundreds of great motivational tapes and lectures extensively. When you go to one of his book signing or events, you will find Wayne Dyer among his loyal fans, smiling, chatting, and giving hugs! Most people are frustrated by their daily problems, and ultimately unable to get what they want out of life. Whatever the stress is--our quality of life depends on our ability to meet and overcome challenges, but looking to the intellect for solutions may actually cause more problems than it solves. In his book "There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem" he explains why we can't expel problems from our lives by dwelling on them, rather, we must correct the error in thinking that produces the problem in the first place. Dr. Dyer draws from various spiritual traditions, especially the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, explainind how we can solve our problems using the innate spiritual source to which everyone has access, at any given moment shame, anger or fear can be nullified and replaced with peace, joy and love by raising our level of thinking to the level of spirit. Wayne Dyer wrote this book to help anyone with a problem - but shortly after finishing it, found he would have to test it for himself. "Last fall, I was literally brought to my knees while alone in a hotel room. I could barely breathe, chest in a vise, I soon found out I had had a heart attack. But something was dreadfully wrong with that picture. I do not smoke or drink, I am not overweight, I exercise, watch what I eat and meditate, and I do what I love. I don't do heart attacks! Yet, there I was in the hospital, with monitor wires and an IV...In three days I would have an angioplasty." He says he spent the first 24 hours in denial, anxiety and fear. But when he re-examined what he had just written, he was able to let go of the self-pity and doubt that had seized him, and make room for the healing process, physically and spiritually. Among his many books is "A Promise is A Promise" written with his wife Marcelene Dyer. www.drwaynedyer.com |
