~~~ Richard Thieme ~~~
"Life on the Edge" Technologically and Spiritually. Richard has published widely.
His articles are taught at prominent universities in several countries
An Episcopal priest for sixteen years, Richard Thieme is now an author (he has always been a writer!) a business consultant, and professional speaker focused on "life on the edge," in particular the human dimension of technology and the work place, change management and organizational effectiveness.
Richard's passion for technology began when still in the church with an essay on "Computer Applications for Spirituality: The Transformation of Religious Experience." According to CNN, Richard is... "A prominent American techno-philosopher" according to Le Monde (Paris) ... "one of the most creative minds of the digital generation"
Richard has spoken several times for the Black Hat Briefings (intelligence and corporate security) He moderated a panel that included the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Dir. of Information and Infrastructure Assurance for DOD, and the Dir. of the Federal Computer Incident Response Team who came to "dialogue" with more than 5000 computer hackers, because, according to the National Security Agency officer who asked, "You're the only one in the room accepted and respected by both the hackers and the Feds." He speaks on the impact of computer technology on people in organizations, helping people stay flexible during times of accelerated change.   His Column, and programs here, have always taken us on a MindTrek...Now we have his book: "Islands in the Clickstream Reflections on Life in a Digital World" at the very least it will make you think ... deeply.
More Truth and Justice... "Alice" eating the cookie and ego.  Outstanding explanation of the futility facing journalists reporting the truth, even regarding corporations killing people!  Do people even grasp the magnitude of this?  Entertainment is now the best form of propaganda, just keep people comfortable and powerless... we do have power, choice, freedom, but they need to be exercised ...else one day we'll say "There must have been a time we could have said no..."
Truth & Justice Issues: Truth in reporting? For the most part gone. Truth, justice, has separated from spirituality, we live in a bifurcated environment, mind control without accountability, religions, spirituality, etc., used for social control...  understandably people feel fragmented, helpless and hopeless.  It's the practice of distraction "babble squared"!  And "Into the Buzz Saw" with journalism and the "Jedi" journalist.  "Part of my destiny is... I talk about what is going on, what is true."
His new book "Islands in the Clickstream-Reflections on Life in a Virtual World", is a compilation of essays, covering a broad spectrum, and replete with Richard's unique and broad understanding of life in all its aspects. On this program he speaks about identities in culture, religion, race, all that we believe we are, all useful...until we realize these things are learned, that we are more, and create a spiritual identity where we re-contextualize ourselves with these identities. Also, spiritual confusion, what is it, how and why it has changed over the last 2000 years.
